She never did in the manhwa. The manhwa storyteller seems to have forgotten she cut the line. It should have appeared in ep. 47 or 48 during the bedroom scene when Ines told Carcel that her past and his past don’t matter and how she’s sorry he met her. That’s what happens when important lines are cut if the storyteller doesn’t know what lines are connected to future development.
I thought he assumed it after finding out her reaction to the jewel on display at the shop. It was the same jewel her beloved painter in her previous life had given her. The instructions to the shop owner was to display it, not sell it. Carcel asked the shop owner about it. After finding out the strange instructions and knowing Inez’s shocked and despairing reaction, I’m thinking he felt they had a relationship. I’m very curious about all that.
The painter must remember his previous life with her. He knew she’d see the jewel in that shop. Maybe he only wanted to let her know that he remembered and that he loved her and their child and he’s there if she needs him.
Carcel doesn’t know anything about that. Why would he connect the medal with another man? Also, what would Ines need from her, according to you, beloved painter? Her beloved painter almost killed her. If Carcel hadnt walked into the room at the right moment, her “beloved” painter would have sent her to another early grave.
In case anyone is wondering, the correct answer is that Ines told Carcel that she isn’t exactly a virgin. She told him this while she was half asleep on the night of the navy banquet. The next day when Carcel came home to ask if she plans to runaway with another man, Ines said in her thoughts that Carcel is wrong because if it was the painter, she never plans on seeing him again, and if it was OSCAR, she only wants to kill him. Ines did not single out the painter. She addressed her thoughts on BOTH men from her past without giving any preference over the other. She’s utterly done with both men from her past and has no desire or interest to contact or connect with either of them. Manhwa just decided not to tell people this in ep48 or 49.
Maybe I’m mixing this up with another story. I’m reading way too many right now. After reading what you wrote, I’m realizing whatever story I’m thinking about it wasn’t a painter. It was a music teacher and the basic concept was the same as this one, but not nearly on the complex level as this. I’ll go crazy if I can’t remember that story. Anyway, sorry for giving bad info and thank you for setting it straight.
Can’t help you with the other story. I don’t know any similar stories with this kind of setup. Also, Ines is the one that gave the painter the necklace in the previous life. Painter is extremely poor and cannot afford a jeweled medallion. In this life, he can only because Ines is financially supporting him through an intermediary. She’s trying to give him a chance to succeed after destroying his chance in the previous life. No matter what, painters can only succeed with the patronage of noblemen so she’s giving him a head start. She knows where he is but never wants to see him again. Manhwa just hiding that fact from readers but she says this repeatedly from the beginning of the story.
Ines is a character who learns from her past mistakes. That time when Carcel came home to ask her if she intends to runaway, she also said in her thoughts that she has done stupid things in the past, referring to her past relationships, but she doesn’t intend to do anything stupid again. She learned very harsh lessons and understands her mistakes.
Yes, this story is in a class by itself. I usually get bored by now. Since I’ve obviously merged certain events of two stories, I’m probably going to binge and re-read this one. Since I started this one not expecting much, I think I’m going to love going over it again. I appreciate the refreshers and the novel info.

waitttt when did ines tell carcel she had a previous lover ??
