I have always hated these settings. Since it would always psychological make sense for them both to be obsessed with each other given they only give each other peace while others give them hardship in one way or another. Him, all his family was killed and he’s suffering with survivors guilt and basically fear towards his step-mother. Her, absent father, abusive brother and servants who take all the brothers side expect for another maid who tenderly takes care of her but wants her to be this mold of a proper lady and gives her high hopes about the father noticing her. Must be exhausting on both their ends, so of course they should be BOTH obsessed with each other. It’s a fresh of breath air honestly, like of course she’ll do anything for the only boy who hasn’t disappointed her and of course he’ll do anything for the girl who hasn’t disappointed him. I hate stories where somehow the girl is fearful and against it, doesn’t make sense for them to be mentally sane from their childhoods, they should be a lil crazy too, anyways amazing story can’t wait for more!!!
