Let's discuss: Childhood friends trope

Am I the only one who really doesn't like the childhood friend trope in Mangas.
Like I just can't get into it at all.
You've been friends so long all the while secretly loving the other person?? It's like tainting the concept of friendship. I know it's not that deep but i really hate it when people say guys and girls can't be friends and it just turns out to be the truth cuz of things like this.
Also thinking fictionally also , I really don't like childhood friend tropes cuz the chemistry is just not there you know.
Where is the electrying 1st meeting? The shyness and awkwardness ? The getting to know each other phase? Opening up about your life and sharing each other's interests??
Like are you gonna skip all that to read about a couple who basically grew up together like siblings??Like I get starting off as friends then getting feelings for the person later. That is normal. But when you are childhood friends, that means you are almost siblingsyou are not going to pursue that person. In that case many people in the real world move on. They fondly remember their crush but definitely move on.They don't lust after their friend for yearsBut in mangas they are fooling their friends for years with their fake friendship.
And i think a lot of authors put it in there as like “look these two were fated to be together bc they met so young and no one can compete with that kind of bond” but like… thats not how it works. It’s rly lazy imo cause they dont put any effort into giving them chemistry

I loveeeee the childhood friends to lovers since i just love the idea of a person caring and knowing almost all of you.
In short loving you so much in every type of love there is platonic, romantic and familial(?)
BUT when i read ur opinion about the trope, what you said hits diff.... Gurlllll you spoke facts imo!!! ( ≧Д≦)
Liked the part where you said this type of trope has taint the relationship of true boy girl friendship, and yess overtime the trope often got too overused and not exciting anymore if not executed great:(((

Exactly. It's nice to read when it's did right but most of the time both in fiction and real life, I just don't like it.

I agree. Although I do enjoy the childhood friends to lovers trope, it’s much more interesting to see the process of the two characters getting to know each other. And often in this trope, one of the characters has a one-sided crush on their friend, so the readers are just left waiting until they confess. The stories that use this trope sometimes lack creativity in terms of storytelling, since it heavily relies on the trope in order to create a romantic story without the tedious process of developing a deep relationship between the two characters.
