I think he is gets enough humiliation in novel, he becomes miserable as shit until he realizes his mistakes and lets go of lize. The only thing that makes my butt hurt a little that dumb duke family barely suffered anything after how they mistreated Edith. They kinda got humiliated after Lize doing dumb shit, but it’s fucking nothing compared to how Edith suffered due their ignorance.

Ik i read all existing spoilers there was, i may be wrong since it's been a while but ig it was mentioned that after leaving lize he's gonna marry anotha bitch or some shit, that ain't what i want, i need the look of desperation in his eyes as he slowly an' painfuly gets his ass cut like onions making my eyes tear up(out of excitement ofc)

spoiler.... im not defending cliff cos he really dumb as hell and deserved what happened cos....


he did experience that at the end (also his new wife is apparently really nice and normal) just its not elaborated cos he aint that important really. asshole chose lize till the end and got what he deserved. surprised he even lasted 4 yrs with the btch ( because he had contract rule with her of his own volition that he cant file for divorce) but he did suffer in those years. he started becoming alcoholic, health issues like migraines (cos lize a dumb attention seeking btch)

and got really really sickly thin at the end. like no more ml bod and swordmandship buff. but, i will defend the parents (or atleast the mum) cos she did treat Edith like a daughter, remember? edith cried after the duchess validated her when no one did, she supported edith in excel thing, she will also chose edith's dress for the ball. its just that they were programmed to do the opposite. (as for the duke, it was hard for him to do so cos he is essentially the power making body that gives edith the punishment so his role is more strict than the duches). what we should be complaining about is how that btch lize didnt get (punished) for her crimes (like literal murder)

I get the brainwashing victim ain't no culprit, hell, i don't even resent kilian for the past actions like many others(wrong is wrong but all I'm saying is that i get it)
But cliff's one hell of a diff story
He knows smth's up with the hoe i can see it but support her fully like a slut he is(i would have understood him like kilian, princess or the mother as long as he put up a fight or questioning shit, but he doesn't even do that much, so fuck him)

I read the novel and Cliff does end up sour and deeply regretting his choices.. He doesn’t have romantic interest to MF like Helio does but still shows jealousy towards their happy relationship

He didn't choose to stay her, it was because the conditions (restrictions) left on him to stay with Lize no matter what that's until she got catch and punished by the Imperial family cause Lize decide to something stupid.

He does end up with someone who loves him only vice versa and bulids up his relationship with his brother, who stated his brother is back to his original self before Lize arrived and fucked with all their heads and personality.

I get it, as i said before the only thing i'm looking for is for the brainwashing victims to "just suspect " their actions are controlled, i won't complain as long as we have that(look at the parents, yup, that's all i need) but i read somewhere that stated cliff KNOWS something's up with lize and still goes along with wtvr she wants, not once have i heard of him even do as much as "think" ab quitting or not wanting to do what she desires
Do tell me if he actually did that, imma stop hating on him immediately
