I got beef with “Bastian” translators now…

… cause they were the ones who recommended this. I was reading ‘Bastian’ and there was this side note “ohh, fun fact - these two stories are set in the same kingdom and “Cry or better yet beg” is a very popular novel~ It’s less about heavy conflicts like Bastian and more about the thoughts and emotions of the characters” - YEAH RIGHT, I feel so devastated after reading the novel spoilers
Help, I like angst too but this author is truly a whole another level

Sorry I meant to like your comment but yeah the art is definitely wasted on this series. It’s beyond horrible, never seen a main character be subjected to so much pure evil by a male lead before and they still end up together in the end. This series is a crime.

Yess the manhwa adaptations of both of these series are such high quality because of the popularity of the novel that you can’t NOT appreciate the artists behind it - but I just don’t understand WHY is it so popular.
I don’t mean to say that romance always has to be all lovey-dovey, I like the premise of dark romances, I like the angst - but for me there are boundaries that should not be crossed. Writing a story in which a woman is abused for YEARS, is forced into all of it and in the end still trying to portray it as a romantic relationship - that just shows that the author has no idea of how human relationships and emotions work. If she made it clear it’s a stockolm syndrome that it would be remotely “fine” but LOVE?
