How do you think the empire was known to be the strongest and has currently stayed safe from enemies attacking? He obviously does his job, it’s just readers aren’t given much info into what he does. Notice the fact that compared to other stories where the ML is focused on and actually shows the parts where they’re doing political moves- the author decides not to do that and instead just show the FL’s events only. They want the story to be focused on the FL. Why do you think he hasn’t been interested in what the women do? Because he’s busy with his own duties as king by keeping the empire running.

Totally agree. Besides, you can't even find fault with him not doing anything whilst knowing the psychoncubines were destroying each other. Polygamous Royal families marries concubines to keep some noble fams in check, in his case, it's both keeping them in check and business.
