Overall, I think it's a pretty neat story in terms of a character study. While I am weirded out by the underage stuff, I appreciate that none of the it seems to be actively excused by the surrounding characters, and in fact they judge it pretty clearly. I think it's cool that they can accept the fact that they want these two to be happy and for any illegal tangoing to be criticzed by the people around them to the extent they are aware of it. Honestly, character-wise, I'd probably judge Haruko most harshly for being a pretty neglectful mother to Haru, but she's simply a flawed human and I can respect that. Also, hooray for the fact that Ren is legal in American standards now?
