Yes the tone is different because it's being adapted and re-written by someone else with permission from the author of the original story. So what is happening currently is not in the novel.
I didn’t know that. This explains a lot because I didn’t remember this from the novel, but I didn’t finish it so I wasn’t sure if this happened at some point I didn’t read.
Honestly I definitely prefer the manhwa over the novel this time (happens very rarely for me because i like the details that the written media provides). The webtoon artist has adapted it very well and made the story even more nuanced and gave the characters more depth.
