I hoped they would explain why the dragon had sided with the old emperor... I thought it was all a misunderstanding and that in truth they wanted to give the prince a family (seeing as he was also a genius) that's why they approved his sister's accession to the throne ... but they didn't explain anything... the ending did disappoint me a bit, 3/4 more chapters were enough to explain all the pending things and it would have been nicer if the king hadn't died and there had been an exchange between the various characters
