Can someone explain?

I genuinely don’t understand why people hate on this story so much. Yeah, it’s toxic, but that doesn’t necessarily make it bad. There are thousand of popular toxic manhwas like this, and I don’t see ppl hating on them as much as they do here. Will someone be kind enough to explain what they don’t like about it?

Tbh I think it's because the characters are written kind of realistically so people are hating on them extra hard as if they were real people vs. The toxic manhwa that people understand are so far removed from reality that they can just enjoy it for what it is

The story is bad, folks just because things are written “realistically” doesn’t make it good. I can enjoy a toxic shit pile once in a while myself. I just finished re-reading Sadistic Beauty Bl, which is far worse than this was but I was at least entertained.

But the couple in this just sucks, especially Chunwoo. Like his red hair sex friend had a more compelling story than he did. Like I can understand why he never made things official with Chunwoo, even though he had a decade head start. His father affair, his self esteem and mom depression. I felt bad for him. Chunwoo as a character is flatter than Florida.

Ho-In relationship with Woojin made me more emotional than whatever the fuck is happening with Chunwoo. Not even the sex scenes can save this manwha for me personally.

Because in this the bottom is the toxic one while in other its usually the top. People forgive tops way too easily for doing even the worst crime.

How does Ho-In suck? Genuinely I don't understand any of the hate, and the story was good. Infuriating, sure, but good

Tbh I think this is probably a huge part of it for sure

You know how in a healthy relationship, both partners develop positive attributes from being with one another. Like they learn from each other, yeah that didn’t happen here. Ho-In just got bat shit crazy and Chunwoo going along with that cheating nonsense made it even worse.

Ho-In was about to break his best friend arm, he didn’t sit down to talk to him or ask him what’s going on or nothing.

Now I’m cool if people like toxicity or character regression, I think nothing wrong with it.

?? You'd described a toxic relationship where one character was emotionally abused and manipulated and finally got to his breaking point, but that doesn't make him a bad character or a bad person, especially when he's proven time and time again that he's a good partner and usually a great friend.

The situation was very awful and misleading + after the sneaking around, his conclusion made sense and he clearly wasn't in his right state of mind

Ho-In isn't perfect but he's a good person and well-written character. It's astounding to me how people on this website will cry out for justice for fictional characters and shit on abusers but then when a character actually responds in a human way to said abuse, they're so quick to lose all that sympathy.

You just proved my entire point, thank you. Hardly anything positive came from this relationship. If being with your partner makes you violently lash out on other people unwarranted and causes you emotional distress, it’s pretty bad. Mind you this wasn’t even a stranger but a close friend of his that he’s known far longer than Chunwoo.

I don’t like Chunwoo and I don’t like Ho-In regression. It’s why I dropped the manwha. This isn’t good writing, they are far better pieces of work that handle this situation better. And they don’t fix it with sex.

Also just because Ho-In is a victim in this situation does not excuse his violent actions towards other people. That’s not how real life works.

Never said it was a positive relationship, it's definitely a toxic one but the characters feel very human and it's a well written story in general with realistic emotion. It's not poorly written just because you don't like the direction it went LOL
It's not sunshine and rainbows but I don't think it was supposed to be

Also Ho-In thinking his lifelong best friend was sleeping with the love of his life would hurt EXTRA hard and fuck with mentally much more. Didn't say it was excusable for him to be violent, but his thought process and how it came to be wasn't out of the blue and a bad action at his breaking point doesn't make him a shitty person overall

We really need to get out of this whole “story feels so realistic and human” that means it’s automatically good. I feel bad for you if you think this is peak writing lmao. The story sucks so does Ho-In and Chunwoo, along with Woo-Jin. Please read better stuff, I’ll pray for you buddy.

    Have a good day
