I am a queer bangladeshi so i am 100% aware of how this can be for so many others like me so seeing people yap as if we are inhuman for sacrificing everything to fit in is us somehow torturing the other person in the said arranged marriage and as far as i think this whole generational passing down in kabuki is also a heavy responsibility rather than their own free will to marry. The point of their marriage was to produce a heir and thats it, thats all there was and if love comes along then great for that too.

Being treated equally as in having equal rights and respect, not disregarding their unique living experiences and the discrimination that they have faced and still face to this day. People can still be treated equally while having their different circumstances and experiences taken into account. Recognizing that gay people had it harder back then, having to fake their way into a heteronormative society and marry people they might not have truly loved (which is painful for ALL parties involved), is not treating them "special", it's treating them equally by understanding their specific situation and having empathy for them, just like you would for any other non gay person.
