So, as far as I know in Greek the word “páthi” means “suffering” originating from 16th century Greek’s “pathos”. In English, ‘pathos’ is also a word for ‘bringing sorrow’ or ‘evoking grief/sadness’, but in this manga is it used to refer to blood? Or pleasure through pain? Bittersweet love? Unrequited love? Or am I missing something? I was thinking for a while and it’s been bothering me why the author would use the word ‘pathos’ but anyone else have an idea?

Its based off of the literary terms of persuasion: ethos, pathos, logos.

Defined: **""Pathos is an appeal to the audience’s emotions, values, and beliefs. It answers the question: How does this make me feel?""**

So its like a more literal way of saying their emotions is running through their blood. So excitement, passion, etc.

But also a mix of what you said too! So like pleasure through pain with blood and biting ~
