Rachel dream is to reach and see the stars above the tower, in the real outside universe... But we don't know why is she so obssesed with the stars, it could even be a metaphore or maybe her dream isn't only that... SIU has sourrounded her with mystery in purpose... but there is probably a selfish reason and a story behind her ambitions... because she has decided to sacrifyce everything: moral, the possibility of friends, loyalty, even sell her soul to the devil in order to make it.
The point is nobody understand Rachel because se don't know her real motives, her background story nor how many different sides she has or doesn't have (I mean Baam says she can be nice but we don't know if he only had an idialized image of her and she was devil all along or if she really was likable before and them became corrupted, since to us she has almost only been shown either as a cruel betrayer or as a cynical bitch pretending to be a victim)...
You also forgot the fact she wanted to know what and who Bam was and why he was secluded so deeply underground outside the tower. Then again her goal changed some as she climbed the tower, she wants Bam to always follow her.
She's a bit mentally unwell as we've come to see over the chapters.
