Just because you can't see her doing anything doesn't mean she isn't helping kill the monsters. She isn't useless, she only appears such when they show her around boss fights or when MC is using Corpse Explosion. She originally was a solo player that would team up for certain events until she teamed with him. The two clearly have a connection that helps one another.
