Painful story

This story makes the main character go through the wringer for it's entirety, but it holds no purpose. It's redundant. Its the same chapter over and over again with no character development, no plot development, and ultimately, no purpose. This is what I mean when I say the story is painful. Not because it tugs at your heart stings or leaves any sort of lasting emotional impact, but because it's essentially self flagellation to read. But hey, there will always be people who mistake that for having a story with *depth*.
