everyone in this story is a mess. ina for knowingly getting into a relationship with a married man and being manipulative to both the others. yuki is a people pleaser- stemming from the fact that he’s had to repress himself his entire life- but that’s still an issue. as well as being the least communicative of the 3. and i’m sorry but the messiest person is misaki.
misaki has noticed this huge issue in her relationship with her husband (intimacy) that pretty much happened after their marriage. and after finding out her husband was cheating on her and comes out to her as gay, she doesn’t leave him because “there’s no one else” she’ll love. (that doesn’t excuse the fact he cheated, that’s still bad). she also refuses to divorce him after he asked for one because he knows that their relationship is not one based on romantic love. while i appreciate that she defends yuki with the debacle regarding his parents, she still is unwilling to let him go and still making him repress himself. it may not seem like it but yuki has already encountered people close to misaki that know them as a married couple, who have expressed that he was temporarily confused after he let them know he would no longer be seeing ina and continue his married life with misaki (as she refuses to divorce him).
misaki has put everyone into a hopeless situation because she is extremely idealistic and not considering that by doing so she is simply putting each of them in more pain. it’s a no-win situation. ina, who is polyamorous, will never be able to date both the people he loves as misaki doesn’t view him as a romantic partner. misaki will never be viewed “as a woman” or romantic/sexual partner by her husband as he is gay. and yuki is being repressed, intentionally or not, while also not being able to be with the man he loves as he knows it still makes misaki uncomfortable. ——— i know people will say “he could file for a divorce” but the only way i could see that going would be the divorce would have to be either an admission of adultery or irreconcilable differences. both of which, he may have to admit he’s gay or that there’s been a lack of intimacy which led to adultery. which leads to both parties being ostracized, one more than the other in either scenario.
