There’s no real side couples but one of the characters Chanil who was the main character’s (Skylars) former crush is now dating a girl. This was set up but other other main character Cirrus so Skylar can get over or give up on liking Chanil (so manipulative I know) and it worked. Long story short it’s more plot than romance.
