I've just started reading this and I'm enjoying it a lot, but I just can't help but wonder why Skylar and Cirrus are the only ones with western-sounding names...? It's just odd how everyone around them is a Kim this or a Park that and then we have these two with their unique names like they're coming from a different dimension and nobody seems to comment about it in the story. Is there a specific 'lore' reason for that? Or did the translators just feel like giving them these names...?

Actually in the raw version they use Korean names! Skylar- 하넬 Haneul which means Sky in Korean, Cirrus - 현운 Hyeonun, Not too sure about their last names tho, it doesnt come up often when i was reading the raw so i totally forgot :p ig the translators just wants to make it easier for the readers to recognize the main characters

I see, thanks for the info. At least now I know these are not their real names cause that was confusing af. I was waiting for the characters to elaborate on it but nothing was mentioned.
I wish translators would just leave the characters names as they are instead of coming upon with these made up ones. They just feel so out of place.

Their Korean names both mean things to do with like the sky/clouds I believe, which I guess for symbolism reasons they chose to change their names to SKYlar and Cirrus (type of wispy clouds). So they're not actually out of nowhere. Ofc this isn't necessary and you could simply just educate international readers on the meaning behind their names, but with the addition of changed names which they can more directly associate, it's easier to bring up recurring themes in text and understand symbolism.

their names are always different depending on translation, for example in jp their names are kirito and sora and in es it's cirro and celeste iirc?? their names ALWAYS have something to do with the sky and the cloud. it's meant to capitalize on how important is their connection
