I think it has something to do abt the roles of each family the mls family is supposed to protect from the front and the other family from the shadows so if royal family were to marry to the family who is in charge of the frontlines public opinion of the two would tilt too much?? not sure
Afaik it's alternate. Rn, it's the turn of the family of herman. The royal family do this to balance the power. Coz if they play favorites, it will challenge the power balance in the empire.
if regina cant marry her intellectually challenged boytoy bc of the balance of power in the empire and what not..how tf was she engaged to herman???????? doesnt that pose the same problem
