I liked the mom before, but I do feel like the relationship between her and her son is a bit...I donno like not normal. Like you know how unloved wives find the validation in the relationship with their son? Maybe I'm reaching or maybe I watched too many tiktoks about "boy moms" but from the first I'm not really vibing with it.

Depends on the culture. Asian moms are usually like that with their sons. They dote on them.

No you’re right, but the other commenter also is. The mother seems toxic and shallow

I mean yeah different cultures sure, however this is less the dotting and more on the how she behaves. Like in the last chapter she appears she is holding both her sons hands and the daughter just stands to the side. I feel like this hlgors beyond the "how asian moms are with theirs son" but thats just how i view it tho. And i do believe this type of parenting from her contributs to his extremely childish behaviour. Like while funny, sir you are in your 30, please behave.

To give another context, the FL's brothers are also quite childish. Sure, they are not 30 but they are quite old enough. If I'm not mistaken, they are already in college.

Yes, but i believe there is a difference between the type of childish playfulness the brothers have and the immaturity Iseop has. And the difference comes from the way their parents raised them. Even if the twins's mom dotes on her sons, the weird emotional relationship is not as prevalent. It comes across as more appropriate between mother and sons.

If anything, his mother's affection is what saved him from going insane from his father’s pressure. Their mother and son dynamic would only be a concern if the mom ends up not liking FL and he can’t stand up for her. Coming from that type of family, such dynamics aren’t that much of a concern until there’s finally a woman coming in between them, aka wife/gf. Then you’d see the actual problem.

I agree with you regarding how it’s mostly a problem when a woman comes in. I definitely foresee difficulty for FL. I feel like this entire family is so toxic to her already, I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes.

Yeah most definitely, she’s weird. I can already foresee her making FL’s life miserable, I hope not though. I get really bad vibes from Lee Seop’s family and the way he acts sometimes is not it. I feel bad for FL.

Indeed the father is ultimately to blame for the skewed relationship between them. However, regardless of her liking or not the FL, they do not appear to have what i would find to be a more healthy and normal mother-son relationship . But that is just my opinion.

In an ideal world they would both go to therapy and work on fixing the issues: unhappy and unfulfilled marriage/life and the repercussions for her, and all the pressure put on him and all of hix anxieties. But then again this is a manhwa and we do have to turn of our brain for a bit.

Let's see. Didn't read raws so I have no idea. The mother's quip about marrying someone 'useful' stems from Jeon Seob (?) being the son of her sister in law. Can't judge YET if she would be the same if FL would be introduced as the gf. Mom likes her, generally, as a reliable secretary but I know that might change if as gf. My guess rather betting, is that she'll like FL. The genuinely toxic one in the family is the grandfather and father, whose we haven't met yet. Seems that they are set up to he the real antagonists for the MCs.

Actually, even irl, in Asia, going to therapy is a stretch. I'm not rich so idk but therapy is not a thing in Asia, prolly even more in East Asia. Because if it's common and effective, there wouldn't be a lot of suicide cases there.

Yeah definitely can’t tell rn. But, I feel like the mom is fake nice to FL and once Lee Seop shows an ounce of romantic interest in her, the mom’s gonna flip.

She’s nice to her because she’s useful. As long as she’s not a romantic interest she would be genuinely nice to her. But let’s see.
