She use that excuse to be stay low profile in the church. So that she doesn't have high position in the church .
Because if she use "child of god" excuse, she definitely is going to be worked to death by church.
I guess that makes sense. I figured she would show she has a littleee bit of divine power, enough to make her a priestess and so she isnt questioned. But not enough to make her stand out either
