wait whaat but i dont think cirrus never actually cared for chan-il tbh it's the opposite? cirrus has shown that chan-il is one of the only people he genuinely tolerated and liked, except when he got jealous from chan-il constantly having skylar's attention loll. but no i think cirrus is just embarrassed and scared of how chan-il would act bc cirrus has shown that he hates people seeing his real self and his family life so he doesn't know how to behave around chan-il knowing he'll act different now that he saw the whole dad beating thing.
and also the skylar part what makes you think that tho? i feel like from his thoughts skylar was really happy with him and chan-il's friendship and was grateful that chan-il tried so hard to become his friend bc skylar was so isolated. even on their last little hangout together skylar was happy and thankful for chan-il not just bc he had a crush on him. i think skylar only distanced himself through ending the camera lessons stuff bc he still sees him in the friend group in later chapters and acts fine.
but yeah i agree chan-il is suspecting skylar and cirrus are becoming closer or maybe even suspecting their relationship too lol but i think this will be elaborated on over the course of sooo many chapters :/// bc paskim seems to be focusing on cirrus and skylar's relationship and barely anything else in the new season which i aint complaining but i want to know about everyone else WAAAAA
Cirrus only wanted to be friends with Chan-il so he could escape the image of being “antisocial”, “scary”, and “troubled”, which has followed him since elementary school.
He wanted to be liked, popular, and feel loved even if it wasn’t real to him. He saw Chan-il and how he was treated and how he treated everyone else and knew that was how he wanted to be perceived, however cirrus never wanted or intended to actually be that way since he already sees himself as a damaged and unlikeable person.
This even led him to think Chan-il was faking his persona. That he wasn’t actually nice or anything like that. But obviously that was debunked when Chan-il continued to persist on being friends with cirrus despite him acting like he wanted nothing to do with him.
That’s when cirrus decides that Chan-il wasn’t a bad person, but he was still an annoyance to him since he always felt jealous that everything came so easy to Chan-il— making friends, getting good grades, keeping friends, being liked by teachers, etc. Cirrus has an inferiority complex towards him, but feels like he can never really stop being his friend since he needs him as an example of what to be so that he’s not alone since he’s a “damaged, unlikeable, scary” person by default (in his head).
This only worsened when Skylar became someone Cirrus was interested in. Chan-il was picked over him every single time and we can see Cirrus’s bottled feelings towards him start to come out.
As for Skylar, idk if you remember but in the very beginning he absolutely hated how pushy Chan-il was with wanting to be his friend. He did everything in his power to keep him away and yet Chan-il persisted. Of course, Skylar felt grateful that Chan-il chose to be friends with him despite all of that, and even developed feelings for him because of it. But in the back of his mind he always knew nothing could come out of it.
And he was relatively happy with that. As long as Chan-il allowed him to be around, Skylar was happy only being his friend. However, once he started dating someone, we can see Skylar was devastated and even felt a sense of regret for getting involved with Chan-il in that way.
Skylar can’t push his feelings away. Which is the reason why he’s starting to talk to Chan-il less and less unless he begins the conversation.
Chan-il notices these changes. How cirrus stopped talking to him. How Skylar won’t begin conversations anymore. He feels them drifting and that’s what I’m talking ab.
what you said about cirrus is true but that was only at the start of his friendship when in middle school cirrus decided to create his perfect persona so everyone would like him. but like i said cirrus has started to genuinely like chan-il which is shown through his thoughts and even flashbacks of cirrus remembering a moment when he was genuinely grateful for chan-il staying behind with him. that's why i was saying i don't think cirrus 'never cared for chan-il' like you were saying i think there came a point when cirrus did like chan-il and their friendship. obviously that's changed now with the incident of his dad at school but it's been said that cirrus doesn't like when people see who he really is and start acting different towards him that's why he's scared of talking to chan-il again.
you are right in what you're saying about skylar but that's also what i said lol. skylar became grateful that chan-il did keep pushing to be his friend and he was happy, but in your original comment you said skylar was pushing chan-il away bc he never cared about being his friend. that is true at the start when skylar had no friends and hated chan-il. but in the present time it's different that's why i'm confused why you think skylar is pushing him away when he hasn't really even after chan-il got his girlfriend skylar and him were still in the same friend group and still interacted. the only thing skylar did push him away in was the photography lessons which is where skylar and chan-il had most of their scenes, so when that was over skylar and chan-il scenes were also wayy less that's why it seems like they're drifting but i don't think they are.
i think chan-il is suspicious of skylar and cirrus, and he feels sad and confused about cirrus avoiding him but it hasn't been implied that he feels that way to skylar tho? i think paskim is just in general focusing on skylar and cirrus's new relationship, that's why all the new chapters mainly have them and barely anyone else like it was in season 2.
I think you’re misunderstanding what I’m trying to say with Skylar lmao. Yes, Skylar liked being friends with Chan-il BECAUSE he acknowledged the fact that they could never be anything MORE than that even though Skylar wanted to. And let’s not forget, he developed feelings for Chan-il VERY early into their friendship.
Skylar wanted to be with Chan-il as more than friends, but he couldn’t so he settled with friendship as a way to salvage their bond. Once Chan-il got a girlfriend, being a very close friend to Chan-il became more painful than a comfort to Skylar. Seeing the one guy he had dared to have a crush on from afar start dating someone is bound to stir up some uncomfortable feelings.
Not only because Skylar will find it hard to show genuine happiness for him (which will cause guilt), but also because the last time he had a crush on a guy (who was also his best friend) he got bullied relentlessly because said friend didn’t feel the same way. Which is literally the same situation he’s in at the moment.
Seeing Chan-il express genuine feelings towards his new girlfriend literally triggered that same feeling of self disgust that was bullied into him, and is obviously bound to cause a wedge between Skylar and Chan-il.
Also this chapter IS the implication of a distance being drawn between Skylar and Chan-il. Chan-il literally noticed Skylar watching something/someone out the window, and instead of telling the truth Skylar lied and said he didn’t see anything of interest.
Chan-il obviously knew he was lying since it was clear he was watching Skylar before he even made the question of what he had been looking at. Which implies he saw Skylar reading a text in his phone, looking out the window, and smiling at him. This gets confirmed when Chan-il looks out the window as well, sees cirrus, and frowns— because he realized it was probably Cirrus who had sent Skylar a text telling him to look out the window, and when asked about it Skylar had lied to him.
Which, per my original comment, Chan-il sees his close friends getting closer and closer to each other except they’re lying about it (for some reason unknown to him), making him feel left out.
what you said about skylar is true i agree with you on all of that lol but that's not what i was talking about i was just confused why you thought skylar never wanted to be chan-il's friend anyway bc they still are friends technically just not as close as they were bc of the past camera lessons.
but that's where i think that's not what this chapter implied at all i don't think paskim meant to show skylar and chan-il only. i think it was meant to emphasize chan-il becoming aware of skylar and cirrus having some sort of secret, not that chan-il and skylar are being distant. i think that scene where chan-il asked skylar what he was looking at, chan-il got suspicious and looked out seeing cirrus, which is why he starts wondering why would skylar not say he was looking at cirrus. i think this is foreshadowing to chan-il kinda being somewhat aware or sus of their relationship in future chapters, bc even in the korean chapters which are more ahead, the focus is on chan-il and cirrus avoiding him, and it hasn't shown anything related to chan-il feeling the same to skylar.
and what you said about chan-il knowing skylar was lying or watching him while skylar got a text, no that wasn't shown or implied at all? chan-il had a regular smile on his face when he went to see what skylar was up to, but when he saw skylar's reaction to his question, his face dropped and he realised that something is going on outside the window and that's why he looks and sees cirrus. it only shows that chan-il is once again feeling a distance between him and cirrus moreso than with skylar.

The way Cirrus hasn’t spoken to Chan il ever since he saw what his father was doing to him is so sad clearly Chan-il genuinely cares for cirrus but the fact that cirrus never actually cared for him is really showing with the way cirrus is pushing Chan-Il away.
Skylar is also clearly pushing him away since he never really had an interest of being his friend, he just thought being his ‘friend’ was the only thing close to being in a relationship. So the minute Chan-il started dating cirrus’s friend Skylar started speaking to him less and less.
What’s more heartbreaking is Chan-il noticing this, and being confused on why all of a sudden his “closest” friends seem to be forgetting him, almost leaving him out. Only to find out that they’re both getting closer and closer to each other and keeping it from him (as we saw in this chapter).
I need Skylar, cirrus, and Chan-il’s friendship to be discussed more but I’m scared things will end unresolved since Paskim said that the story will be ending soon
