i believe they did it for her own good i remember in the chapter where itsuomi came back from the sauna with yuki’s dad her mom told him something about wondering what would have happened if they learned sign language. i think they wanted it so that she would be able to adapt in society where the majority don’t know sign language at least that’s the way i interpreted the circumstance!!
I still think it's weird that her parents didn't learn sign language to communicate with her
