Spoiler: yeah the bird is the step-mom. she turned her mom into a bird, which is why the bird kept calling the step-mother's name...it was her. the bird eventually died....and then got buried....the bones became human and thats where the step mother was found (buried in the bird's grave but it turned into the human bones)
