I'm guessing it's inspired by that trend of short stories with witches picking up some servants/familiars and them growing up to either become their family or lovers. They were short and we dont know what their dynamic was like etc, but in long stories they always legit pick for those adult women to raise him like a guardian/mother so whyyyy, whyy do they have to become lovers from a wholesome family? Found family doesn't exist at this point in authors's minds.
