This may be a bold statement... but I feel like bum may have brought about a change in sang woo's character or better said as to changing his heart at some point. I feel like bum began to appeal to sang woo's better nature, not because he is different from sang woo's mother but because the two are actually quite similar. I'm sure sang woo's parents must have had a loving relationship at the beginning but things changed over the years except, maybe, for the mother's devotion and love she had for the family. While Bum came into the Sang woo's life announcing his love for him, Both bum and the mother had come into the relationship or situation with the idea of love. The mother stayed with the father even after the abuse and accepted him for who he was. She took the good moments with the bad ones. As for bum, he did the same. he came to accept the nurturing side of sang woo as well as the abusive side. I think sang woo may have hated that aspect of her. Might have found that kind of love and devotion to be scary and stupid. But I feel like he still loved her and may have killed her out of rage as well as out mercy. Sang-woo can recognize these characteristics in Bum. ( that is probably why he was initially taken by surprise when Bum offered him a blow job.) He found the idea of bum still liking him, even after torturing him, to be "scary." The idea of love, or someone loving him, seems so alien to him.( In Which I would agree with.) After that incident with bum offering a bj and sang woo rejecting it, things became less intense. They managed to obtain a sense of normality. The incident where bum dropped the pot and instead of sang woo punishing him, like usual, he takes care of him and his burn. For a moment, sang woo admit being nice feels good for a change.

Moving forward in the chapters where the two are sleeping together, it seems like they are growing on each other. They became more intimate which led to *drum roll please * (you guessed it! ) a bj. It seems like sang woo is able to reach a climax due to bum calling out his name. Here it is again. Bum openly showing affection for sang woo and sang woo is taken aback by it all. At that moment in the story, there have not been any recent killings by sang woo. His attention focuses bum. He planning to test bum loyalty by leaving him alone at the house. He was expecting for him to try to escape at some point, perhaps not so soon, and that is why he created a torturing choking device. He had hoped bum would have listened and was being genuine with his love and devotion for him. In that very moment, Bum was "killing him softly with his words"... when he betrayed sang woo and tried to leave him... (that was the perfect opportunity to use that song btw) sang woo provided punishment of course and I'm pretty sure that he was set on killing bum that day. But he stopped because Bum surprised him yet again by starting to call his name and asking for him save him. Sang-woo doesn't understand bum nor does he understand his own feelings as he begins to save bum from himself and masturbate. Bum appeals to his better nature in this very moment. Bum knows that there is a good person inside of sang woo and I feel like sang woo want to believe in that, too. But he needs bum In order to be that guy. It begins to de-escalate after he climaxes. I feel like he was done with torturing at the time and was now picking on him but bum didn't see it that way. that is why Bum started questioning him about what he wanted. Sang-woo didn't understand his actions or his emotions either and didn't know what he wanted. But deep down he knew. He wanted bum and his love. Scared by the answers he slices bum's neck. From then on things went back to before. Bum is in the basement. Sang-woo is back at it again with the killings.

However, things are not the same. Sang-woo goes back to going out and having sex with women that remind him of his mother. but that is no longer gratifying. So he goes to the gay bar. What was he looking for there... idk? Maybe someone who looked like Bum. Bum who is now his new obsession. Sang-woo doesn't exactly have a pleasant experience there but he does find someone who, as he mentioned, reminds him of bum by the way they beg. Now we know for sure that sang woo is changing because of bum.

After that incident, things go back to being in a state of normality. Bum is able to roam around the house and sang woo is not having as many murderous tendencies as he did before. He even mentions that he doesn't enjoy being hostile anymore and warns bum to not push his buttons when they go shopping together.
Things are definitely changing.

When sang woo finally decides to introduce bum to his friend, I think that was what he was talking about when he mentioned was afraid of doing something. He was revealing a piece of the real sang woo to the world. Even if they didn't believe bum, he was able to make his secrets public thanks to bum.

On another note, I don't think sang woo was lying about having sex with her. The girl talked about tasting him when they first introduced her. That what I'm telling myself.

So At this point, I'm rooting for the cop or for Bum to go against sang woo and kill him or maybe for him to take his own life into his own hands. At least with the last option, he'd have some control of his life.

Wow. I agree with a lot of this. Bum has definitely become a weak spot to Sangwoo but I don't know if that's a good or bad thing. One of the things I have a different view on is the scene where Sangwoo slices Bum's neck when he tried to escape. I think Sangwoo spared Bum not out of fear but because it's all a game to him. In that moment, it's all about control. He said to Bum that if he crossed that line he would slice his neck below the chin and that's exactly what he did. For Bum to know that his words are absolute and that he is more than capable of killing him (masterbating while Bum chokes/boner when thinking of mother being strangled). If Bum is a weak spot to Sangwoo, then he needs to keep him in order by fear/abuse/manipulation/ threat. For sure Sangwoo was betrayed by Bums disobedience but then again Sangwoo sees himself as the 'victim.'

As for Sangwoo taking Bum out in public, I question Sangwoo's intentions. Aside from Sangwoo revealing his true self through Bum I also feel like Sangwoo is doing that because he knows there is a cop snooping around becoming suspicious of him. What better way to fool his friends by thinking that Sangwoo is nursing/helping this injured gloomy guy and no one will question his character. They will just give Sangwoo the perfect alibi. Also, if Bum does completely fall for the dark side, then Sangwoo is free to manipulate Bum and make him do/say whatever he wants, including kill or even taking the fall for Sangwoo. Or they could just stay in a twisted relationship like two crazy live birds.....

My mind is in overtime right now.

I'm thinking the same thing... either using him as a perfect alibi or could be dangerously bullying him or could be that he is trying to make Bum know him better or it might be that he is giving Bum another test---just like when Sang-woo pretentiously said that he will leave the house though he is outside....

I'm seriously curious and, at the same time, feeling uncertain whether where the story is going on....towards a positive road or not....

But most of all, I am feeling uncertain towards this Sang-woo character... Sometimes I can see him as a person who has capable of being changed due to Bum's love towards him....Sometimes I can see that he is all horror and twisted and just giving hopes to Sang-woo and towards the other readers [like me] who wants him to change and to which extent does Sang-woo can able to love Bum....

But that love (or how it is even expressed) is again uncertain...may it all become twisted-ness or love anew. A fresh ending or a tragedy...I guess, just like the others....I came here for curiosity why this manhwa is in the feature list, then continuously for Bum, and now for this uncertainty to where this is going [I know that other may comment or say that this is predictable----for me, I doubt since some parts of the manhwa has (so far) many of twists... and I think it may twist some more]

[I want to return reading this manhwa as soon as I will finish my thesis this year...I hope that this manhwa has great storyline twists :) and hope not to make it all gone a trashy ending... I read some manhwas that have trashy endings but some are (for me) perfectly good like Cheese in the Trap.... I hope this (my first appreciated) BL manhwa won't ever disappoint me]

For the most part I agree with you that Sangwoo has grown attached to Bum due to similarities of events in his past but there’s some things I disagree with. The main things I disagree with is that Sangwoo has had a change of heart and some of the reasons for his actions.

No idea how Sangwoo views his current relationship with Bum but I don't believe that in any way regrets what he's done to Bum. I think that if Sangwoo could do things over again, he would still be abusive towards Bum. Because of this I do not think Sangwoo has had a change of heart. I’d like to know more about Sangwoo’s mom’s relation with his father before I can draw any conclusions on it. We don’t know if she accepted the abuse from her husband and loved him or was trapped in the relationship because of fear or some other reason. I agree with ToQ-Gogo, that Sangwoo views things as a game and is always in control. Sangwoo is the game master who sets the rules and always wins. If you look at it that way, the scenes were he's harmed Bum is pretty predictable and I could see it happening again.

Some ways the abuse was predictable: 1)he would forgive Bum for breaking in, but not with his legs functioning so Sangwoo made sure to break his legs. 2) Guessing Sangwoo told Bum to stop the whining multiple times and when Bum did not. He “needed to punish him” and cut him 3) I think Sangwoo did go a bit overboard on chapter 8(?) but he was aware of that and tried to calm down. He keep his promise though by slicing Bum’s chin for crossing the line. I don’t count the abuse when Bum made mistakes during the chores as one of the consequences. I think rather than harming Bum because he did something wrong, he was doing it because he wanted to test the limits of Bum’s obedience. Since chapter 10 we have not seen Sangwoo abuse Bum but that doesn’t mean we won’t in the future. I think that what makes Bum different from Sangwoo’s other victims is that he is highly submissive. Sangwoo loves that sense of dominance and Bum gives it to him. There’s also the mommy issues mixed in with it. Rather than out of care I think that the reason Sangwoo hasn't hurt Bum for a while is because Bum hasn't recently done anything that would piss Sangwoo off or broken any rules laid out to him. I viewed the warning Sangwoo gave in chapter 14 as a threat.

Sangwoo’s variability of behavior in the earlier chapters could be because he was testing out new things with Bum to see how he would respond. Bum is different from Sangwoo’s past victims in many ways and he took the opportunity to try out some new things. From the moment he made Bum his housewife he started testing him. Some things he could have been testing: 1) How does Bum, someone who reminds him of his mother, react when he treats him abusively similarly to the way his father treated his mother. 2) If Bum was given the opportunity to escape would he do it. He first tested it by leaving him alone to do the chores, then by leaving him alone for hours which Bum fell for. 3) Testing if Bum would harm him if given the opportunity. He gave Bum a very sharp knife and a sharpening blade that could help if it was too dull. If Bum looked for the right chance he could have tried to stab him. Also Sangwoo’s reaction to the stew in chapter 4 and 5 lead me to believe that Sangwoo knew about the poison or that Bum’s “kindness” at the time tipped him off. 4) Testing how Bum would respond when Sangwoo treats him kindly or testing how true Bum’s love was. Sangwoo did not initially plan to go as far as he did in in chapter 6 or was he sexually attracted to Bum. I don’t believe that simply having sex with someone gives Sangwoo a whole lot of satisfaction. He could have decided to allow Bum to give him the handjob because he was testing the extent of Bum’s love towards him. Sangwoo could have offered the bj to figure out what he had found arousing before. Just because he’s sexually aroused by Bum does not mean he’s sexually or romantically attracted to him. Bum’s submissiveness gives Sangwoo a sense of superiority which he finds arousing. That would also explain why he got turned on when Bum called out his name while he was choking him. For Bum to love Sangwoo even while he is abusing him gives him a sense superiority that his previous victims did not give him.

I’m waiting for the official translations of chapters 15 and 16 before I can form any solid opinions on those. I have no guesses on Sangwoo’s motive for introducing Bum to his friends. I would like to see Sangwoo die in the end. I don’t think he’ll ever truly care for Bum. This response ended up being a bit longer than I was intending it to be ._.

It is long but it's interesting! Sangwoo is cold and calculating (he's gotten away with a lot!) and has purpose for all his actions. All in all, that's right Scooby, we are dealing with one sick son of a bitch....
