Idk how it is in korea but over here in my country it's illegal to drive wearing any type of sandal or slippers that don't hold around your heels tightly. Because otherwise the shoe could slip and twine around the car pedal causing an accident. It's, therefore, safer to take off your shoes to drive. I have driven barefoot several times for this reason.
