Skylar has a habit of getting too angry and resorts to saying things he doesn't mean. In the spoilers though, he goes way, wayyy too far. And I don't mean that in a verbal sense.
They need to step away from eachother, because if someone's anxious attachment causes you to purposefully hurt them, that relationship isn't meant for you. You can't handle someone else, you can barely handle yourself.

They need to become actual friends first before they even think of being lovers. They came into the relationship with a lot of baggage and secrets. How can anyone even begin to try and help when they don’t know what the problem is? That’s why I said teens say and do stupid things.
I remember when the spoilers for the chapter where Skylar suggested dating came up I was like “huh, that can’t be real” and lo and behold, it was.
They’re still in school so unless one of them transfers or drops out, I wonder how they’ll handle the separation?
Because yes, currently they can’t be together because they can’t handle each other’s issues when they actually smack them in the face.
I agree!! it was too quick and definitely not well thought out especially considering how things were between them before. they're two complicated and trauma ridden individuals and it clashes a lot.
The best thing for them at this point though, because I know neither will want to be friends now, is to be strangers.
They both need space and actual help, but I'm especially nervous for Cirrus because he doesn't really have anyone now.

But I also don’t think Skylar really meant what people are saying he said (not saying he didn’t say it, only that he really doesn’t mean it).
The main reason I think that? He has a severe trauma to kissing, but he finally let Cirrus kiss him, and he was able to handle it. That means he trusts him.
Way back when Cirrus first kissed him in the early chapters, they weren’t even friends, so he was triggered. Now he trusts him enough to allow a kiss.
Even though i did think it was a bit out of left field that he suggested dating so easily when a few chapters back he was heartbroken.
