Because the Duke is of a higher social position and feared & respected by everyone, society can't really criticise them. Rather everyone wants her on their side, as a means of getting closer to the ML.
i am sure that Ml status in the society is higher than both her fiancé and ex . Since from what i remember the trash is nothing much plus i think it became a bigger scandal because the person who drugged mc and the ex made it look like they did the deed.
and for the fiancé i believe that he is not really yet a fiancé but someone the father was talking ahead of time to get them engaged.
