I suspect that Kenji will always treat him with disdain because he's just a dickhead.
I know it won't happen in this story, but in real life everyone of Yocchan's friends would be telling him to ditch Kenji like a bad habit.
Stop chasing him for awhile, pretend you hade enough. Someone will not realize something/ someone is important to them until its gone.
