or is there a gap in leadership somewhere here. Like yeah he caused it but the whole war itself was on the account of some dude in an unfashionable mask deciding he’s gonna invade the locals. Not to mention they’re fighting almost impossible odds as is (like this guy STILL isn’t dead).

I feel like it’s too easy of a writing choice to make us hate chorong. They’re right, it is a childish deadly mistake… and he is a child forced to fight in a war. Even the other normal soldiers call all the students kids. He isn’t coming off decades of wisdom like dan.

Chorong character is complex bc he was brought up selfish, and yet he managed to make a friend. Then the one time he fights for someone else (in vengeance) he only causes more suffering. I don’t love him either but when I really think about his psychology, it’s like damn.
