That’s a mistranslation, the official website has fixed it but the uploader here didn’t. That time Lyle was knotting in the air, not Ash as at that time, he’s not in rut and alphas in this story can only knot when they’re in heat cycles (you can see Ash saying in the last chapter that this is the first time he ever knotted)

Ash and Lyle didn’t knot in their other times having segg (yk how wild they can be during segg) instead when they’re in rut

I mean it makes sense since both, heat/rut and knotting are reproducing mechanisms irl too
