Is it being himself tho? Giving in to your impulses doesn’t mean you are true to yourself. It’s about feeling good about yourself. You can be true yourself in both giving in to the impulses or learning to stop them. There’s no rule that says one is more true than the other.
I kinda hope that instead of being handed an artifact that will help suppress his instincts, he's instead allowed to indulge in them more. Let the poor wolf boy be himself instead of being forced into a more human skin!
