- the gang leader died (from TJ and Ian’s gang)
- someone tried to get TJ killed because of his leadership position, hence the car accident.
- It’s not safe to be around TJ when his own life is at risk, which is why TJ told Ian to stay away and leave like he’s always wanted to.
- Ian didn’t give a damn about all that. He was so pissed at seeing someone try to kill TJ that he had vengeful thoughts about it. So he went to the funeral so everyone can know where he stands.
- By going to the gang leader’s funeral, Ian put a target on his own back, which automatically puts him in danger as well.
- TJ went into hiding because Ian won’t listen to him and stay away. It’s his way of keeping Ian safe while also plotting against his enemies

In simple, Jamie ( the villain of the story ) already making his movements against TJ since they have their rivalry. And Jamie will use Jo and Chris as a bait to get Ian and TJ.
