That's what I mean by the "cheat key", the reincarnation & his deal with the fox. Back then during his university days, pretty sure his acting skill wouldn't be as good as the current him.
If he is reincarnated without any memory as "him" from the future, no experience at all —literally just him in the past, but still receives the fox's help with a tiny bit of presence, currently he wouldn't be able to beat Ryushin because his skill would still be the same.
In other situation, If he didn't have the fox with him and didn't streak a deal with that fox, he wouldn't receives any presence and he would remains unnoticed even if he have skill due to his past life experience. If Ryushin is a bad guy, I won't talk about this at all, and I feel like MC deserves to snatched Ryushin's opportunity —if Ryushin were really is a bad guy, that's it. But he is not, that's why I feel bad for him.
To be fair Ryushin is an actor since young. The MC started acting when he's in college, and all that roles are not very notable, such as passerby 1, gangster 1 etc., in short accumulation of ordinary roles. That means the current MC only experience is his acting memories. Meanwhile, Ryushin have experience with big roles and been trained for too long with not only acting but also the training they are doing right now. The fox only provide the aura he needed. Both of them are trying so hard, doing their best, I don't want to sympathize with either of them cause I feel like I'm doing them dirty by doing so. ( ̄ε(# ̄)Σ do correct me wrong if I gave wrong information though.
I don't think you can say the MC is using a "cheat". It's just that in this life, his -used to be very bad- precense (aura) is raised to be on "normal" level, it's not even an outstanding precense like what Ryushin has since birth.
If you refer to this as cheat, Ryushin who was born with amazing aura, handsome face, rich family, and was raised in a very nice environment that supports him to do acting since he was a little, should be a "cheat" too. I would say, everything the mc and Ryushin did was out of their hardwork. Both has their own advantages and their own disadvantages. MC may has his memory, but Ryushin has his experience since child and environmental support as well as natural born talent.
I agree with the person who commented before me. They are rival, even now, you can see Ryushin is liked more for his interpretation as Jekyl. MC lost but still did his best to keep practicing and reinterpret his Jekyl.
I actually feel bad for Ryushin guy. I mean he is good, he also repent if he is in the wrong, he won't let himself drunk in self pity. A perfect actor if I can say. In other word, MC is .... well although he do put a lot of effort we can't deny that he is using a "cheat" key. It's kinda pains my heart that he keep snatching Ryushin's opportunity. So I hope this time nothing will change about the Jekyll & Hyde casting. It's okay for MC to lost sometimes, he don't need to be very talented and overpowered just because he is the main character
