Well so the emperor has inferiority complex - sends his trusted but stronger friend whom he is jealous of to a dangerous wintery land so that he doesn't overpower him.

-fast forward the friend(count) with his family spend their entire life fighting wars for the emporer because of which the count and his son passes away. Only the daughter Asha is left and becomes the count.

-she comes back to the mainland to ask for the reward for finally winning the war, but the emperor instead of giving monetary support to save her people offers that she can marry anyone, thats her reward (basically insulting her)

-Asha chooses the crown prince as her groom and now emperor cant take his word back so they both marry and move to live in asha's land.

-fl and ml has a deal where ml will help improve the living conditions of asha's land and fl in return will be in support of him(he is the crown prince but also has a step bro who could be a threat)

-the Empress wants to make her son the king so she conspires with the high priest yo bring down the ml.

-high priest thinks ml becoming the king will bring down the country so he is helping the empress to make the her son the king because her son is basically useless, never weilded a sword in his life and is a scaredy cat. If he becomes the king, the empress and high priest can control the country whole the stupid son is on throne just for the name.

-There are other noble women who wants to be the crown princesses so their fathers send them to county so that they can be near the ml and seduce him.

-ml and fl are suppose to divorce once contract ends but they are slowly developing feelings for each other. But they are under constant supervision by anyone and everyone who wants them seperated.

Yeah thats pretty much it. Rn the empress is sending the high priest to county so to keep an eye on them.
