Honestly, this kind of story exists because there are people (probably lots) who like it. Watching "normal" porn is also ruining the brain cells, so it's no different.
I believe even people who like to read messed up things could separate fiction from reality, for example I'm totally okay with reading BL that has pedophile or rape in it, but it doesn't mean I normalize that in real life, that's still a crime and I would HATE pedophiles and rapist in real life.
There are some BL that I don't like cuz I think it's not good, but I would just think that's not my cup of tea and walk away, no need to spread hate on the people that enjoy reading that story.
Prison BL is nothing new. Been around for 20+ years and people have gone along living their lives with their brains intact. This is no different than reading gore or dark fantasy which has more debilitating content. Yes it's uncomfortable and awful but most people who read it can recognize that. Perhaps go outside and see real people who don't make or get influenced by sensational content on tiktok for views that demonizes work that they find uncomfortable without actual constructive criticism.
