maybe it is because Taka is too young to understand plus the whole family register(koseki (戸籍) is a Japanese thing because he lives with his mother so has to have her last name

He might be too young understand that his parents are divorced but he absolutely is not too young to understand who the father figure in his life is. He clearly rarely sees/talks to his child outside of school, I know this changes but still, very disappointing from that man.
i heard the custody laws in Japan are pretty weird. and they allow or are pretty quick to give full custody to one parent or something and let the kids never see their other parent again
