It's Carcel who was harassed by them before bc he's goodlooking so gays were the ones harassing him so he doesn't like them. It's also Ines thinking that Jose is gay for Carcel and Carcel doesn't want to think that bc he's a straight person who doesn't like that sort of attention from gay men. Girls hate when men catcall them too so it's that sorta attention he hates. Girls who hate men catcalling them also wouldn't like men.
Isnt is said more often said that carcel gets harassed far more by women than gay men, and he still married a woman but that is just to address what u said about women hating men.
