This dude really thinks they got closer without trying. Just because she says a few nice things and let's him do things, that's part of the contract and she feels obligated to do so. He never asks her real opinion or real feelings and just takes everything at face value when he should know she's used to just letting everything happen, locking away her opinion and feelings.
