I feel like he’s playing Edgar. See the last look? Yes it could be “a small glimpse of love” but I felt like it was more towards the “I got you trapped” look. After all he wants to inherit the mansion. He might know Edgar’s role. Victoria also has a dark side and I’ve known it since the beginning. They’re both fighting each other and they’re trying to win any way possible.
Also I noticed how he played June the same way. He made June feel special too. It’s just June have in easily and wasn’t as fucked or broken, she was casual about it while Edgar took it personally and saw it through.
