i get what you mean and what makes you uncomfortable, but it's just their culture. the queer people on their country use that term, im a wlw and im not feeling uncomfortable if my gf calling me husband or smth. using feminine terms is normal nowadays, like "girl!" or "queen!" is such a genderneutral way to call someone now. chinese queer likes to pamper their ownself and to be treated like a queen by their 1

that is very reasonable, i agree that things can be different depends on the demographic and cultural aspect. i think what makes me uncomfortable is just how heteronormative the queer culture is especially when we are talking about the literature. i am myself chinese and raised in a chinese family so by experience i understand how heteronormative everything is. in the end, everyone has different experience and perspective, and that's the beauty of it. thank you for your reply btw (≧∀≦)

yupp, it's somehow upsetting no matter how we look at the bright side bcs at the end of the day, it's based on the heteronormativity. i honestly veeeery very relate with your concern but yeah maybe we could only wait for another 100 years for the heteronormativity to gone

Exactly, it's concerning how the literature as one of the most important media of representation of the queer community actually becomes harmful for the community because it fails to accurately portrayed the true representation. i believe the problem is on the credibility of the author. i personally think everyone is allowed to write bl/gl as long as they have proper knowledge, respect, and research about the queer community. But again, of course people who is actually queer know the best about the experience. Anyways, i appreciate this discussion, thank you so much for the reply! ^^

You have to remember that in Eastern countries they refer to themselves like that, you can go on YouTube rn and see Thai/Chinese/Korean gay couple channels who call themselves husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend it is how their culture is and especially in the east where lgbt is heavily criminalized and stigmatized they do it to fit in. you may not like it but that how it is.

dont get me wrong I am not the biggest fan of the heteronormativty but I have to remember I'm looking at it through a Western lens and while I wish they could just be husband and husband I think it is a byproduct of being persecuted and trying to conform to society,

btw am not trying to mansplain your own culture to you I hope you don't take offense I am just trying to give my opinion on the topic <3 hope you have a great week!

No worries i don't take any offense ^^ Yes I understand how the eastern culture is, I agree that this is the byproduct of being persecuted and trying to conform to society, and that's why it's very concerning to me. You can say it's just a wishful thinking of me that we can escape from the society norm a little bit even in the fiction world haha XD hope you gave a great week too <3
