It isn't an excuse but a reason, if you went through that shit ton of physical, mental and emotional abuse/trauma. I don't think you can be a happy-go-lucky person man.
Children develop their personalities and mentality based on their environment. So expect a trashy child if they grew up in a trashy place.
Is having an abusive childhood an excuse for having a shitty personality?
