Shuu was always in love with Ayame, the seme. He just thought Kaede was a nice and gentle person. The whole time during this story, he was unraveling his feelings that although he felt it was a nightmare to be called on, he thought he was being picked on - he actually wasn’t. You see as time goes on, the flashbacks show a gentler side, and how the seme was always in love with the uke. They truly were pulled to each other.
