Well, the ML realized it could very well be a fake and there is no way to tell one fake from others. So he kind of gave up. And even if it turns out to be real, he knows where to find it. No need to get an appraiser to appraise hundres of fakes if he doesn't know for sure there is a real one in there.
Did they even find it? Because they went from breaking aquariums to find it to, meh fucking is more important, let's call the knuckleheads (who I'm pretty sure know NOTHING of the carrot), to worrying about homework (?) Then fucking again.
