He already has punched him and felt guilty for hurting him... Besides just because he doesnt punch him doesnt mean he wants it, he continues to push him away even in his thoughts to say stop. Not to mention he feared being found by the people outside the car. He did his best to stay quiet not because he enjoyed it but because he had no other choice.
