I get that in some cases it’s a cultural mindset to stay in an abusive or harmful relationship, but that doesn’t magically nullify how problematic it is. It’s unpleasant to watch characters suffer like this while abuse is excused or swept under the rug. One person is unilaterally harming another both physically and psychologically for their own benefit.
