So how is it?

In what chapter did she meet her soldier friends? Is Khalid bad guy? I dropped it some time ago because it was boring and I was waiting for the appearance/clarification of these two issues.

First answer to your question: yes, in the recent chapters around 125, i don't exactly rmr this exact chapter but she hid one of her old comrades in her carriage.

The second one: technically no and yes?

-In Estelle's (Luci) eyes he's a traitor since he killed her and betrayed his country to become a noble in an enemy country, therefore making him a bad guy in her pov.
-The king who was currently ruling over Erksha in the war was corrupt, to the point he allowed nobles to exploit the poor and was extremely neglectful towards his country and his subjects only drowning himself in wealth.
-but...Khalid's family in Erksha were technically a duke family who had noble blood.
    - The king killed Khalid's dad who was the duke and the rest of his family, the only way Khalid could survive was joining Estelle's knight order.
-the king would purposely assign them dangerous missions to try to kill Khalid since he was threat to his throne having royal blood and the only one alive who could contest it.
-the whole point of the knights order was to basically stop riots with the commoners and stop a revolution and prevent jangskhan from invading.
-the sad part though, was Estelle was ignorant she was just a pawn for the king, she believed she was doing it for her country but she was just contributing to his rottenness. Khalid just did as she asked or fought for her cause bc he was a simp hella obsessive w her.

But why kill her tho.? Igotnothingonmymind

-She was a king's pawn and the only thing that was keeping Erkshan together was due to being a renounced swordsman "ishtar star"
-Khalid couldn't get her to change her mind despite dropping hints that he liked her, she was so dense to the point that she didn't recognize that Khalid had feelings for her. It was even mentioned that she never rlly asked any of her troops and comrades 'how they actually were, or how they were feeling'

-Estelle expressed extreme patriotism to the point it blinded her, her dedication to serving her country was useless at the en bc she didn't see how the commoners were suffering despite being a commoner herself.
    - the kingdom was already rotten from the inside out, it was even more worse due to the war between Erkshan and jangskhan so that means, the commoners get taxed a lot more to fund military and less resources or food so lots of people probably succumbed to disease or starved to death.

So she was obliviously ignorant and a hypocrite. holding her sword for a lost cause of a kingdom, but these are the reasons why khalid killed her...

Another reason, from a spoiler I read…..may or may not be true, he supposedly loved her too much to allow her to find out the truth about her own kingdom. He decided a quick death in battle was better than her knowing she pledged her sword to a ruthless tyrant.

I read a spoiler that the king was planning to betray her so he killed her before the king could betray her and “break” her idealism. As stupid as it sounds that’s what I read.

Well, it would’ve sounded stupid earlier on before we met her knights. Now, I can kind of see what they were thinking. Spoilers ahead.

Now we know that ALL her knights worshipped her as the bright light in their lives. Rather than treat her like a human being, she was the driving force for them. Her smile, positivity, loyalty, determination……for love of her king and kingdom, is all that kept them going. The tyrannical king made a big deal of allowing people from the slums who had no hope in life, to become honored knights. In reality he was looking for front lines to kill as many of the enemy as possible until they, themselves, were slaughtered.

Estelle told them that instead of dying miserably in the slums, they could die honorably as knights protecting their people. They couldn’t bear seeing that light go out if she knew the truth. Had they told her the truth, and she’d have known the king killed Khalid’s family, she may not have let her guard down.

Khalid is definitely a sick and twisted person. He didn’t owe that king crap. I would’ve betrayed him, too. In his messed up love for her, it seems he chose to slice her head off in battle to let her die a quick painless death, fighting for her kingdom, like she always dreamt of, rather than knowing the truth. But he was so obsessed with her, he kept her head. It’s just a horrible traumatic set of circumstances for each person. It’ll be interesting to see what these knights do now. Khalid’s nuts, but at least I understand him. These knights? I’m not sure.

I think they’ll still follow her words.
