this level of raw unhealthiness is so realistic, i really am stunned in a good way. like it shows the author knows about this and is really going in depth with all the complexity of their struggles and mental anguish, it's amazing. Im not always into triggering mental health tropes because sometimes they're just slapped there for drama sake (sometimes, don't come for me ;;) but here it's really handled in all its aspects and it's impressive. It makes me very invested!

Yo fr, it doesn’t feel like a story where the author’s thrown in traumatic things randomly; each backstory has a reason and we can see how it affects their current relationship (Cirrus’s experience with SA and how Skylar helped him realize he was a victim, Skylar’s trauma from being outed and the fallout and how that led him to be hyperaware and scared of being open in his new relationship, something that trigger’s Cirrus’s fear of abandonment and possessiveness because of his experience with his family). In all honesty, it shouldn’t work. But I’m excited to see how the author goes about their healing processes and how they end up working. This story reads like the stories of real people. And i really love that.
