Honestly Kata and Teo...him mentioning it wouldn't have changed anything. I mean as in Teo would've still wanted to go with Kata. You could see in the flashback how and scared and desperate Teo was, he just didn't want to be alone. He would've gone back there with his family/friends even if it meant him dying. That's just implied based on Teo's character and that scene
So Kata's "tough love" saved him that day. Of course I don't blame Teo for being upset with Kata, after all, from his perspective it looks like he was abandoned. And he literally didn't even know the full story until that third werewolf came along and told him.
But from the readers' perspective and the adults back then, we see that Kata did it to protect him and made sure that he didn't have any second thoughts on staying behind
Also I'm pretty sure Chei knew. He stated that Logan was the one that killed his brother. The thing is, he's literally insane and said Logan killed his brother over Kata. Which was true, the ridiculous part is that he blamed Kata despite knowing Kata didn't do anything. Kata was literally the one who REPORTED Logan.
Younger Chei watched it all go down in that room but for some reason still chose to blame Kata.
I didn't want him to get a happy ending at all
Is it just me or did the story just gloss over all of the terrible things the characters did? Almost all of them participated in dangerous experimentation on an unwilling subject who was held against their will with no justification. Kata abandoned child Teo in the woods because humans were about to attack their pack… but didn’t think to mention that detail to him. Just ridiculous. Chei deliberately and systematically poisoned Kata because he believed he had killed his brother (when it was actually Raymond’s father and Kata was the one who reported him for it), but arranged it so Raymond would die too because (this is the most clear motive I could derive from his words and actions) he was jealous that Teo had a crush on Raymond instead of him at first. They are just barely able to synthesize a drug to keep Kata alive, and the only consequence for Chei is leaving his research job and a dubiously genuine apology, and they all still associate with each other!? He literally tried to murder two of them in cold blood!!!
